FAQs
Are We A Regulated Law Firm?
Apex Digital: Legal Consultancy Services in New Zealand
Apex Digital operates exclusively in New Zealand as a legal consultancy, differentiating itself from traditional law firms. By choosing this model, we have streamlined our entry into the New Zealand market, enabling faster operations and reducing compliance obligations. This approach significantly lowers our overhead costs, allowing us to provide high-quality legal services to clients at a fraction of the cost associated with conventional law firms.
Why Choose a Legal Consultancy Model Over a Traditional Law Firm?
In many ways, Apex Digital operates similarly to a traditional law firm. We provide comprehensive legal services tailored to the needs of small businesses, including drafting and reviewing contracts, as well as offering legal and regulatory advice. However, there are a few distinctions and limitations in our consultancy model, outlined below. We believe the advantages of this model far outweigh any limitations, making it a compelling option for our New Zealand clients. If you have questions, our team is happy to assist.
Our Lawyers
Legal services provided by Apex Digital in New Zealand by holders of New Zealand Law, and Commerce degrees and Enrolled Barristers and Solicitors of the High Court. Their expertise in business and startup law ensures a high standard of service. We are committed to delivering exceptional, cost-effective legal solutions for all our New Zealand clients.
Restricted Areas of Practice
As a legal consultancy, Apex Digital does not operate in reserved areas of law as defined under the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006, including litigation, court appearances, conveyancing, or advice under the Property (Relationships) Act 1976. These areas are generally outside the scope of our commercial legal advisory services, which are focused on small business needs.
Legal Privilege
Advice provided by regulated law firms is typically protected by legal privilege, meaning it cannot be disclosed in court or litigation proceedings. As a legal consultancy, Apex Digital’s advice may not carry this privilege but is treated similarly to advice from accountants or other unregulated advisors. This distinction has minimal impact on our work, as we do not engage in court-related or contentious matters. Confidentiality remains a top priority, and our engagement terms ensure that all discussions and advice are kept strictly confidential.
Insurance
While Apex Digital is not obligated to maintain professional indemnity insurance under New Zealand Law Society standards, we voluntarily hold comprehensive insurance coverage. This ensures that our clients benefit from additional protection and peace of mind when working with us.
By focusing on providing accessible, high-quality legal services, Apex Digital continues to deliver exceptional value to small businesses in New Zealand.
How Do I Get Started?
Just click the ‘Chat Now’ button on our website and submit an enquiry. After you’ve submitted an enquiry, one of our legal consultants will review your enquiry within 1 business day and get in touch to get a better idea of exactly what you are looking for (Consultation).
Then your legal consultant will send through an email with a bit more information about the services you need, along with a fixed-fee quote setting out costs, scope of the service and timing. Have a read through it, and if you’re happy with the scope, you can accept and sign our engagement letter online – easy!
Once you’ve formally accepted, we’ll connect you with a specialist team member and they will work with you to complete your project. They will contact you by email or phone if they need to get in touch.
How Do I Pay?
Unlike traditional law firms, everything we do is on a fixed-fee basis. This means you will always know the total cost of your legal bill from the start, and after your consultation. Once you’ve accepted and signed our engagement letter, we will send through the payment details. Please note that we take full payment upfront.
What Happens After I Pay?
Once you’ve accepted our engagement and paid the fees, we will allocate you a Apex Digital team member who will take care of your legal project. They will contact you via email and let you know if there’s anything they need. If you don’t hear from them immediately, don’t worry – it just means they are finishing off some other projects and they will contact you as soon as they can. Once they get started with your project, they will keep you updated as to the estimated delivery time and will let you know if they require any information from you.
